Teaera Radick

Teaera is the Human Resources Manager at the Houston Zoo where she manages the HR team and handles all HR related day to day operations. Additionally, she works closely with department directors/managers, and Houston Zoo staff to provide support and guidance.

Teaera has held numerous leadership roles for Total Wine and More and Target. The majority of her career was at Target where she began as an intern. She then progressed through multiple roles including HR Executive/Logistics, Team Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, and Store Director where she led a diverse team to improve services, operations, company culture, and profitability. She holds a M.B.A. in Business, and M.A. in Public Relations and Advertising from Webster University, and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She also holds her Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification. One of Teaera’s mentors was her 12th grade Honors English Teacher who convinced her to attend a four-year university. His encouragement and confidence in Teaera allowed her to apply to universities and graduate with Honors from the University of Missouri-Columbia!

Teaera loves engaging with staff and helping them develop to be the best versions of themselves. She is a people person and strongly believes in the abilities of others when they apply themselves. She loves the passion and dedication that she observes every day from the zoo’s staff members. Teaera’s advice for aspiring professionals is to seek out internships and network! It helps to know people and to have a good reputation for your work ethic and knowledge. Be intentional with your career, and do not attend graduate school unless you have a defined plan that requires a graduate level degree. Utilize your available funding opportunities to invest in certifications to increase your professional development. Teaera’s favorite phrase is “slow down to speed up, be intentional with everything”.
