Stephanie Gonzalez is the Education Programs Coordinator at the Houston Zoo. Through her role as a wildlife conservationist she hopes to help others fall in love with the animals we share the planet with and inspire as many people as she can to take wildlife-saving actions.

Stephanie has had a passion for working with animals for as long as she can remember. She can still recall a time when she was four years old and attempted to resuscitate a rat she had found with a new toy veterinary kit. After graduating from the University of Texas at El Paso with a degree in biology, Stephanie secured a position as an assistant educator at the El Paso Zoo where she had previously worked as a volunteer. While at the El Paso Zoo, Stephanie worked her way up to the role of education specialist before transitioning to a new position as a trainer and facility manager at a bird show. Her love of birds eventually led her to a position as a Zookeeper at the Houston Zoo before moving to her current position.
