Kathryn (Katy) Juliano is an animal keeper at the Smithsonian's National Zoo where she works with lions, tigers, bears, and a collection of small mammals. Katy is fortunate to work with Craig Saffoe and learn about carnivore management from him. Her favorite parts of her job are training lions and bobcats, working with students through outreach programs and internships, and assisting with large cat introductions and breedings.

Katy began at the Smithsonian's National Zoo in 2012 as an intern at her current department while studying animal science at the University of Maryland. She has worked at the National Zoo in multiple departments as a volunteer and a keeper, and was hired in her current position in 2015. Katy is an active member of the AAZK International Outreach Committee, leading her to travel to countries in Latin America and assist with conferences and presentations in Spanish.

Katy built and maintains the AMZP website. She is grateful to be able to contribute to a project that focuses on minority representation in zoos and aquariums and is fortunate to be able to listen to and learn from other AMZP members every day.
