This title varies from zoo to zoo, but most zoos have a position that is the first level supervisor and animal husbandry manager. This person usually oversees the day to day animal operations of a specific taxa and/or area of the zoo. They are the supervisors of the Animal Keepers and the first line decision makers for how to manage individual animals (in regard to breeding, diet or health care). They are also the person who works with other zoos to coordinate which animals should move animals in to and out of the zoo.
